How Has TV Affected Wedding Planning and Trends in Colorado?

Television is a major component in our lives. We receive so many bits of information in a day, it's no wonder we feel overloaded and overwhelmed.  Reality TV shows are becoming more and more popular.  A recent increase in cake shows, wedding dress shows, and wedding planning TV shows gives many brides some insight as to what the trends are and what she wants or expects for her wedding.  The question is can these expectations be met within budget?

Recently engaged couples often do not know where to start when it comes to planning a wedding.  How much do we spend?  What will be the highest cost?  What colors do we choose?  How soon do we start planning?  What is the best date?  How many guests do we invite? There are so many questions about wedding cake designs, wedding planners, trends in Colorado and across the country, that a girl may just go crazy when planning her wedding.  Don't fret, there are many professionals who are willing to help.

With an increased amount of new TV shows dedicated to the brides, dresses, cakes, and planning, it's no wonder many couples have misguided expectations when it comes to planning their own wedding.  As we all know television shows are designed to grab your attention and entertain you.  Reality shows are currently one of the most watched genres of the lineup.  Americans spend 1/3 of their time watching television and 67% of those Americans are watching reality TV.  What this means to wedding professionals is that we have couples unrealistic expectations.  There are many wedding professionals can accomplish the same items you see on TV, but the cost will be more than you would probably expect.  What they do not show you on TV is the TIME it takes to create these beautiful cakes, floral arrangements, dresses, table decor and so much more.  Time costs money, and when you are asking to have things perfect on your special day, it will take some time.

Some of the trends we are seeing in Colorado in 2011 for wedding cakes haven't changed a lot in the past two years.  We are still seeing a lot of cakes with simple designs and fresh flowers that match your theme.  Some brides and grooms have branched out and use a different texture on their cakes, elevated tiers with fresh flowers tucked under each tier so it appears that each tier is sitting on a bed of flowers, unique piping designs that mimic their invitations or dress pattern, or using cakes with different heights to create unique pattern.  Each couple is unique, so our goal is to design a cake for you that will fit your style, budget, and taste buds.  If you have more questions on Colorado trends you can also check out Colorado Brides Magazine.  The have an article coming out about trends in the next issue. Their website is www.cobrides.com/
